Last month, Japan announced its intent to send robots to the moon in 2015, of the treaded and two-legged variety. Now they have revealed that the robots will survey a construction site and then begin construction of a solar-powered, unmanned base near the moon’s south pole. Japan believes a moon base is essential for exploration of the solar system, but financial issues have pushed back lunar colonization to 2020. Read more at [cnet]
